We are thrilled to be joining One Fire this year and hosting a Battle Asana during the festival. One Fire Fest was born out of a desire to create a gathering space for our global and diverse hot yoga community. Within this community we have assembled an incredible group of yogis who will be battling for their cause this spring.

Players:

Gloria Suen—-Zeb Homison—-Garland Hume—-Laura Cryan———JJGarcia–Hargobind Khalsa—–Emily Longfellow—-Gabriel Tavera

If you haven’t heard of Battle Asana yet, get ready because it is going to add an incredible element to your yoga practice whether you participate at an event, watch from the sidelines, or watch from the comfort of home. Inspired by the classic game H.O.R.S.E, Battle Asana is an event where yogis go head to head in a friendly competition showcasing some of their favorite postures. Each participant has an opportunity to win a grand prize and a donation for a charity that is meaningful to them to help raise awareness and motivate others. Through combining athletics and mindfulness, the games create a community of yogis that support and inspire one another to progress yoga as both a sport and lifestyle.

RULES FOR BATTLE ASANA BACK & FOURTH ROUND

The rules are basic. The rounds are 15 min in length. One yogi (player) sets a pose by doing a particular yoga pose of their choice. If the pose is not landed another player attempts to set a pose. Once a pose has been set (landed), the other player(s) must respond by doing the same pose in their first try in the way it was called. If they land it the game continues and attempt to set next posture. If they miss it, they receive a letter, starting with Y. When a player has missed four postures, spelling Y-O-G-A, the battle is over and that players is out. If times runs out, the player with the least amount of letters wins the battle. If the score is tied there will be a sudden life playoff and next letter loses. No pose may be set more than once by the same person and a yogi defending on their last letter may receive two attempts at that pose.

RULES FOR BATTLE ASANA KNOCKOUT STAGES
The rules are similar except… One yogi (player) sets a pose by doing a particular yoga pose of their choice. If the pose is not landed another player attempts to set a pose. Once a pose has been set (landed), the other player(s) must respond by doing the same pose in their first try the way it was called. If they make it the game continues and attempt to set the next pose. If they miss it, they get a letter, starting with Y, and player A continues setting the next posture.

The last yogi standing is declared the winner.
